Athletics Report for Week of April 20, 2015

Congratulations to the Junior Boys Volleyball team who will be trying to repeat as City Championships on Tuesday, April 28 against Bell High School. The Junior Boys won their Quarter Final game vs St. Patrick’s 3-1 and then followed that up with a win 3-1 vs Brookfield. Game time is 4 p.m. Come out and support this exciting team!

Senior Boys Rugby and Varsity Girls Rugby teams are competing Friday through Sunday at CAIS in Port Hope. Good luck teams!

Julia Malone and Alam Chowdhury finished seventh in mixed doubles at the Senior Badminton City Championships, while Kevin Cheng and Justin Huang narrowly missed making the podium, finishing 4th in a very strong pool.

Ashbury to lead bench at Carleton University’s All-Star Basketball Classic on May 21
The annual Rautins-House All-Star Classic is once again being hosted by the Ravens Nest at Carleton University. This highly-anticipated high school sporting event features Ottawa’s best high school basketball players. It will be East vs West as they battle for court supremacy.

Over the last 17 years, the game has established a solid rivalry between East and West schools. Ian MacKinnon, whose Ashbury College finished third at this past years A OFSAA will run the East bench and feels the players will put on a great show, “the all-star game always showcases some special players, many move on to become outstanding collegiate players, this year will be no different.” Some of the top players to watch that night will be: Kevin Metelus (Merivale), Noah Kirkwood (Ashbury College), Ameer El-Badry (St. Joseph) and Maxime Boursiquot (Immaculata).

The 2015 Rautins-House All-Star Classic will take place Thursday, May 21st, at the Ravens Nest – Carleton University. The Junior game begins at 7:00 p.m. and the Seniors tip-off at 8:30 p.m.
